TIPS joins Masskara Festival

Bryan Rapadas and Dr Edwin Antonio were the TIPS members who went to attend and witness the celebration of Masskara Festival in the City of Smiles Bacolod in Negros Oriental province.

Several activities were held such as the search for Masscara Queen, Electric MassKara, and the Street Dance Competition as the highlight of the celebration. Dancers wore colorful costumes and smiling masks as they gyrate with uniform dance music.

The word masscara means a multitude of smiling faces. The place is known for its booming sugar cane industry but was later struck by crisis and a tragedy met by a large number of community members who perished in a ship collision. These put the people in grief. This is the reason why they put up this festival in order for them to cheer up everyone and to move on.
