An art photograph on canvas entitled “Santa Maria Church in infrared” by Dr Jose Orosa III was purchased by Dr. Dedicascion Ma. Reyes of Ilocos Sur. She is the widow of the late Dr. Godofredo Reyes, an Ilocano literary icon. Dr Reyes collects photographs of the said church because she hails from the same town with her house close to it. She was captivated by its beauty on a different vantage point. She got curious of the setting of the photograph when it was taken. It’s a heritage and a world class church.
Dr. Reyes saw the photo in an exhibit staged by The Ilocandia Photographic Society (TIPS) called Retrato. She was one of the special guests who ceremonially untied the ribbon during the exhibit opening. It was held during the Timpuyog Ilocano writers’ international convention at the St Nicks Function Hall in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte held on May 27-29, 2011.
Dr. Orosa is an otorhinolaryngologist and the immediate past president of The Ilocandia Photographic Society. He did a photo project in 2010 covering the churches of the province of Ilocos Sur. Santa Maria church cannot be missed on his project since it is one of the four baroque churches in the Philippines inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Dr. Edwin Antonio, TIPS president handed in to Dr. Reyes the said canvas print. Together with her friends, she was happy to receive it.
